Professional Training Inquiry PDF Print E-mail
In June 2000, the Diabetes Education Study Group launched a world-wide inquiry on the educational needs of the Health Care Providers involved in diabetes care.

A 26-item questionnaire was published on the DESG website to evaluate the need for training/updating in the topics relevant to Therapeutic Patient Education, as perceived by the Health Care Providers.

The overall aim was to obtain results which could prove helpful in the implementation of formal training in Therapeutic Patient Education, based on the specific needs of the HCPs in different countries.

In fact, at least for some countries, the results presented in this section provide very useful country-specific, and general, guidelines which allow for planning of training curricula on TPE starting from the skills that are perceived as more urgent to acquire by the HCPs themselves.

Total results, counting all cases from all responding countries, and country-specific results, i.e. for countries with 35 or more respondents, are presented in the following section.
