The 2008 DESG GC Workshop PDF Print E-mail

The 2008 DESG GC Workshop was held from 16 to 19 January in a beautiful and peaceful fishermen’s village in Catalonia, called Port de la Selva.

In a place where Man is still in harmony with Nature, the participants tried to identify and overcome transcultural barriers, through a series of experiences/workshops.

The result was a successful and enriching Meeting!

Congratulations to the hosts: Dr Daniel Figuerola and his team.

The theme of the workshop was clear: the barriers between the patient and the Health Care Provider. The sessions and the proposed activities were attractive, interesting, well-conducted and were all of them quoted with almost the maximum mark by the participants.

However, due to the surprising and disarming character of some of these activities, the participants may have focused on the activity itself, not being able to understand the reason or its application on their daily clinical practice, asking for more development. Some of the pointed examples were the connection between food and emotion and the importance of the emotions on the memory we have of the food; the connection between the scientific and magical thought.

When asked about what other would like to see discussed, many mentioned the children, others referred to patient centeredness and others would like to talk about the HCP’s behaviours, attitudes and beliefs.
