Guusje Neijens


Guusje Neijens is diabetes nurse specialist since 2001, Msc care trajectory design. Experience in  primary care, secondary care and pediatric diabetes care. Currently employed in the Diabetes Centre ISALA in Zwolle. Thereby she is founder of the foundation D-Support, professional organizing informal support for families with child(ren) with diabetes. Involved in public programmes on access of life style education: SANA group Deventer which combines diabetes education and physical exercise programme. Member of advisory boards on health literacy, education, wound care, cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD), care trajectories. Neijens also is Board member of Primary Care Diabetes Europe (PCDE) since 2009. Previous chair of the expertise group Primary Care of the Dutch association of diabetes nurses (EADV), previous policy advisor of the Dutch diabetes association (DVN) and involved in the Dutch national action program for diabetes (NAD). Neijens: “My driving force is the connection to the world of the patient as part of the treatment. This is recognizable in all of my activities.”
